Hi,
I already installed Vista on a testing machine, it works fine! Now I want to install a clean version of it on a external USB2 hard drive with my notebook. Now I wonder, what if I boot my notebook without the external USB2 hard drive connected to it, will I be able to choose XP without any boot errors...
Thanks in advance!
Cliff

Windows XP or Windows Vista Cannot be installed or Run on an external HDD because when they boot they reset most of the ports including the USB ports and you wil get an error due to loss of data connection... "Kip" wrote:

Atleast XP and 2003 can be installed on USB but it requires modifications to some files and depending on the modifications made may not be allowed by license. I am not however aware of anyone getting Vista to run from USB yet.
